North East Grant Enables Regional Partnerships and UK Awareness Campaign

North East business Interdigitate celebrated a recent grant award from the Open North Foundation in a truly local way – by involving businesses from across the region in the design, development and delivery of its new UK-wide Expo campaign.
Simon Merchant, Director of Commercial Partnerships at Interdigitate, said: “We’ve been looking for ways to raise our profile and to trade our way forward into new markets across the country, and so it was that our UK Expo programme became an important addition to our wider awareness programme. What better way to do it, than by involving local suppliers – those in your network, those you trust.”
Interdigitate worked with Morpeth-based Beach Design to create a new stand design and positioning concept. “We wanted something that stood out,” Simon added.
“Beach Design converted the strength of Interdigitate’s orange branding into something physical – oranges! A conversation starter, the QR code on the oranges takes people straight to Interdigitate’s website.”
Interdigitate’s Scott Mallin commented: “It’s been great to see the popularity of the oranges – we were blown away when someone made an orange muffin out of one of them and posted pictures on LinkedIn. That’s a marketeer’s dream!”
The team are proud to have involved another North East team in the stand build – Bang on Print and Design – who brought the vision to life and solved the challenge of making kit that met specification at short notice, as well as those all-important orange stickers. Add in the technical support of Zenith Systems, and Interdigitate’s tour of the UK becomes a truly locally-created project.
Interdigitate started its tour at the Tees Expo, before moving to London, the North West and back to Newcastle. They’ll be heading off on tour again in early 2025.
“It’s been an amazing experience so far,” says Scott, adding: “We’ve met so many great new businesses already and with major cities on the horizon, we can’t wait to meet more.”
