Founded in 1974 by a collective of small business owners in Lytham St Annes, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is a non-profit making and non-party political organisation that’s led by members, for members. FSB is the largest and most influential business support and representative organisation in the UK, focussing on supporting small to medium enterprises and the self-employed.
Members receive an exclusive package of great value business services including advice, legal expertise, financial expertise, support and a powerful voice heard in governments across the UK and by policy-makers at all levels.
FSB is also the UK’s leading business campaigner and representative body, focused on delivering change which supports smaller businesses and the self-employed to start, grow and succeed in entrepreneurship. FSB’s lobbying arm starts with the work of its team in Westminster which focuses on UK and English policy issues. Additionally, expert teams in Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast work with governments, elected members and decision-makers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with teams across the English regions working with local and regional policy and decision makers too.
September 2024 marks 50 years since FSB was founded and the organisation is celebrating the huge successes it has had over the years – both in terms of its policy and advocacy, ensuring the UK’s 5.5million small businesses are at the heart of decision-making and delivery, and the expert support provided to hundreds of thousands of members.
